Baptism of 18 children at Kimbondo Pediatrics

Feb 4, 2019 | Congo, Solidarity & Mission

Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. On 3 February 2019, the 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Kimbodo’s small chapel of pediatrics witnessed the baptism of 18 new orphaned children of the three sites of the orphanage. Fr. Joseph Mbungu, CMF, Major Superior of Congo, presided the ceremony. In his homily, he emphasized the dignity of each person as a creature of God and therefore also a child of God.

“This leads us to the respect of every person, even those who have a disability. This respect must culminate in love to manifest above all in this last category,” he said.

He also invited the administrators and volunteers of the center not to be discouraged by the difficulties that may appear as failures in their mission.

“Indeed, despite the apparent failure of Nazareth, Jesus did not give in to discouragement,” he continued.

After mass, the children ran to Father Rios’ room to receive biscuits and sweets. There were about twenty Italian volunteers/sponsors among the crowd.

Kimbondo Pediatrics is led by Fr. Hugo Rios, CMF assisted by Fr. Victor Misangamani, CMF and several other nuns and laity. A social apostolate with several challenges especially in terms of material resources in general and finances in particular.
