Canonical Visit and Superiors’ Meeting strengthen the Northeast India Province

Northeast India. The Canonical Visit of the Claretian Missionaries’ Province of Northeast India was conducted by Fr. Mathew Vattamattam, CMF, Superior General, over a period of 45 days in two phases. During this time of animation and accompaniment, he visited all the communities of the Province and personally met every member, offering encouragement, guidance, and reflection for the growth of the Province and the mission of the Congregation.

The visit was marked by prayer, fraternal dialogue, spiritual renewal, and missionary reflection. Through personal interactions with the confreres, Fr. Mathew Vattamattam, CMF, listened attentively to their experiences and encouraged them to deepen their commitment to community life, leadership, and missionary service. The encounter provided the members with an enriching and inspiring experience, strengthening communion, fraternity, and fidelity to the Claretian charism.

The Canonical Visit concluded with the Superiors’ Meet of the Province of Northeast India, held from 8 -10 May 2026 at Claret Villa, Shillong. Guided by Fr. Mathew Vattamattam, CMF, the gathering focused on discernment, communion, leadership, mission, and synodality.

Various sessions and discussions emphasized spiritual renewal, missionary zeal, accountability, systems thinking, collaborative leadership, and sustainable mission. Particular attention was given to Bible Ministry, social ministry, vocation promotion, formation, safeguarding, financial transparency, and effective administration within the Province.

The interaction between the Provincial Government and the local Superiors also addressed matters related to missions, educational initiatives, land issues, resource management, and the Province’s future pastoral priorities.

Serving as the concluding moment of the Canonical Visit, the Superiors’ Meeting brought together the fruits of the visit experience and inspired the members toward greater unity and missionary commitment. The programme renewed the members’ dedication to the mission of the Church and the Claretian Congregation.
