Claretian Mission Day: Celebrating faith, communion and charity

Mar 22, 2023 | Mission Procure

To promote the Claretian Charism and the mission in the peripheries, the General Mission Procure of the Congregation fixed an annual event on Divine Mercy Sunday or the 2nd Sunday of Easter called “Claretian Mission Day.” This year’s celebration will take place on April 16, 2023.

This year’s theme is “House of Prayer,” which emphasizes the importance of having places of worship where the community gathers for worship, promotes shared values of peace and justice, and enhances community participation. The event will see every Claretian community share with their co-workers, the apostolates, and the ministries of the Claretian Missionaries around the world.

The Mission Procurators, responsible for guiding the celebrations in each Major Organisms, can lead the celebrations in various creative ways. The event can be celebrated in various ways, such as in ministerial places like parishes, schools, and social service centers, as well as virtual spaces like Facebook, Twitter, websites, and Instagram.  The Claretian Mission Day is also an opportunity for everyone to act in favour of needy people. People are invited to donate to support the universal Claretian Mission and specific projects. The money collected will directly go to the General Mission Procurator to be dispatched to the pre-selected projects.

This year, four projects have been selected, and they are ‘Church roofing at St. Anthony Mary Claret Parish, Nkol-Mekok, Cameroon (X006/2020)- Euro 30,000,’ ‘Reconstruction of the village chapel at Carmel Basti, Kagaznagar, India’ (X048/2022 ) – Euro 10.000,’ ‘Construction of the chapel Vírgen del Carmen in Bogotá, Colombia’ (X066/2022) – Euro 30.000,’ and ‘Renovation of St. Avila Theresa church at Chellampatti, India’ (X018/2022) – Euro 10.000.’
