Conclusion of the Silver Jubilee Celebration of Chennai Province

Barrackpore, India. The silver Jubilee Year of the Province of Chennai had marked a greater significance in the life and mission of the members of the Organism. The programs for the year of Jubilee was well planned. The inaugural ceremony was held at Claret Bhavan, Karumathur, Madurai, Tamil Nadu on 13th January 2018. The philosophy students have staged some comics and dances to add life to the ceremony. All the members of the Province have considered it as a moment of renewal spiritually, mentally, psychologically and physically. Special themes were given to the members in view of Silver Jubilee to reflect during the community monthly recollections. The members of the Organism came together in different batches for a sharing of life experience as part of the preparation for the Jubilee celebration. The special themes reflected and shared during the get-together were spirituality, community life and mission. A special Jubilee prayer was given to be prayed daily in all communities.

The concluding celebration of the Silver Jubilee was held at Claret Nivas, Barrackpore on 23rd November 2018. The venue of the celebration was St. Claret Primary School, Barrackpore. The seminarians were given responsibilities in various preparations of the Jubilee, such as liturgy, choir, decoration, cultural and food committees etc. All the major Superiors of ASCLA West Major Organisms represented their respective organisms for the celebration. Fr. Cyriac Nyarkulam CMF., represented the Province of Germany, a reminder of the contribution of the German Province as mother to the Chennai Province.

The concluding celebration started with the solemn Eucharistic Celebration at 9.00am presided by Fr. Mathew Nyarkulam CMF., the pioneer missionary to the Chennai Province. His sharing has reminded the members of the initial challenges and difficulties faced by the missionaries in starting the missions in Tamilnadu. Felicitations then followed. The minor seminarians of Claret Vidhyaniketan, Nayasarai have staged a wonderful skit to communicate the need to care for the people in peripheries. A CD and a souvenir on the title “Grace and Gratitude” was also released on that day. The celebration concluded with a fellowship meal.
