Kosala, Kumba. From 22 to 26 July 2026, over 175 youths from 9 Claretian parishes in Cameroon gathered for the 8th edition of the National Claretian Youth Camp at Saint Agnes Parish in Kosala, in the Diocese of Kumba. The theme of this edition: “Take courage, I have overcome the world” (Jn 16:33), challenged the youths to be bold missionaries wherever they find themselves. These four days gave them an opportunity to pray, reflect and learn from one another’s experiences.
Several activities gave life to the event: Holy Mass, educative conferences, sports, dances, drama, musical competitions and more. In his welcome speech, Fr. Frederic Kpoumie, cmf, parish priest of Kosala, challenged the youths to be missionaries of hope and courageously face every situation with faith in Christ, who has already conquered the world. The conferences offered a space for the young people to reflect on important issues such as discerning the will of God and leadership based on the model of Christ.
It was also a moment of thanksgiving for a new team that will lead the activities of the Delegation’s youth ministry for the next three years. The Prefect of youth and vocation ministry, Fr. Moise Moise Moumassou, CMF, called on the new national secretary of the youth ministry, Fr. Melvin Ngwakongnwi Neba, CMF, and his team to work in close collaboration since the youths make up an essential part of the mission of the Delegation. Before blessing the new team, he transmitted the message of the Major Superior, Fr. Elisee Ananga, CMF, to all the youths. A message of encouragement which reminded the youths that the superior and the council consider the youths as one of the top priorities of the Delegation.
At the end of the camp, the youths returned to their various parishes rich in many aspects. The camp not only gave them the opportunity to showcase their talents; it was also a great opportunity to strengthen their relationship with Christ.
