Encounter of non-parish Churches

by | Mar 17, 2008 | Parish Ministry, Santiago

Spain. On February 20 and 21, 2008 the First Encounter of non-parish Shrines and Churches of the Province of Santiago took place in Colmenar Viejo.

The encounter was convoked by the Secretary of Parishes, Antonio Gálvez, and has been animated by the reflections of Antonio Sánchez Orantos. He had a framework paper entitled “In search of mission paths,” where he encouraged the shrines and non-parochial churches to discover new evangelizing possibilities, making their structural frailty their major pastoral strength.

The encounter had been organized with a double purpose: to help embody the guidelines of the Life and Mission Project in the pastoral activity of these pastoral positions and to gather the contributions of this group to the Provincial Plan of Parishes.

A dozen persons of different places of the Province have participated, among which was the Prefect of Apostolate, Juan José Raya. The climate and the rhythm of work have been positively evaluated. There is only one thing to lament: the lack of representation of some positions, for different reasons.
