The Mission in Gabon

by | May 29, 2012 | General Houses, Padre Xifre

Libreville, Gabón. The General Government, considering the plan of reorganization for our presence in Central Africa, has decided to erect the Mission in Gabon as a general house.

With the objective of knowing the current situation and sharing with our missionaries plans for the future, Fr. Gonzalo Fernández, General Prefect of Spirituality, traveled to this country from the 6 – 15 of May.

In addition to meeting all the missionaries and visiting all the ministries (Libreville, Franceville-Mingara Akieni and Okondja), he had two zonal meetings (one in Franceville and another in Libreville) to present the new statutes of the mission and to dialogue about future priorities and the composition of a Coordinating Council.

He has also interviewed the Bishops of Franceville and Libreville, and explained the next organizational changes. The Mission of Gabon consists of some native missionaries and others from Cameroon, Congo and Italy.
