Don Benito, Spain. Our Congregation is celebrating the 125th Anniversary of our presence in Don Benito (Badajoz, Spain), where we have the Claret School, the Parish of San Juan (in addition to other smaller parishes in nearby towns). It is in this occasion that the Provincial of Bética, Fr. Félix J. Martínez, CMF, received on April 6 from the President of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura the Gold Medal Award of the city of Don Benito, with the presence also of the Mayor of the town, José Luis Quintana.
The event was held in the Casa de la Cultura of the Municipality and marked the beginning of activities for the celebration of the anniversary. It featured musical performances and a conference by Fr. Gabriel Miguélez, cmf, member of our Don Benito community. The celebration will continue until the day of our Founder (October 24, 2018) and a commemorative book will be published. There will also be two exhibits, a scheduled pilgrimage to the Virgin of the Crosses, the patron saint of the city, and other several celebrations planned.
The exact date of the anniversary is April 19, the day on which, in the year 1893, a Chapel built by the benefactor D. José Alguacil-Carrasco for the missionaries was blessed.
