Kikwit, Democratic Republic of the Congo. From April 8 to 10, 2026, ten young Claretian Missionaries with up to five years of priesthood or final profession gathered at the Claretian community of the Plateau in Kikwit for their quinquennial session. Organized by the Prefectures of Formation, Spirituality, and Community Life, the meeting focused on the theme: “Missionaries of hope, let us commit ourselves toward a well-structured organism, bearer of joy and future.”
The session opened with a reflection by Fr Tryphon Bimbangu, Major Superior, inviting participants to live their mission in a spirit of renewal, balancing continuity and necessary change. Conferences addressed synodality and shared mission (Fr. Placide Sumbula, CMF), the structuring of the Independent Delegation of Congo (Fr. Robert Ndjoli, CMF), and responsible digital engagement (Fr. Daniel Sekele, CMF).
Fr. Héritier Kambidi, CMF, the prefect of formation, presented the 63rd message of the Episcopal Conference, encouraging missionaries to be witnesses of hope among the people, while Fr. Christian Matense, CMF, highlighted the importance of fraternal living.
In conclusion, the Major Superior underlined interculturality and intergenerationality as key challenges and opportunities for mission. The session ended with the celebration of the Eucharist, marking a moment of renewal and missionary commitment.
