Quinquenio Cono Sur 2026: Keeping the Flame of Vocation Alive and Renewing the Shared Mission

Oct 28, 2026 | Ongoing Formation, Perú - Bolivia

Chaclacayo, Peru. From October 5 to 9, 2026, Claretian missionaries from the Provinces of Perú-Bolivia, Brasil-Mozambique, and San José del Sur participated in the Quinquenio Cono Sur 2026 Encounter, held at Casa Claret in Chaclacayo (Lima, Peru). Under the theme “Prophetic and Mystical Missionaries on a Synodal Journey,” they gathered for days of integral formation, prayer, fraternity, and discernment to renew their vocation and strengthen their shared mission.

The encounter brought together Claretians from different nationalities and apostolic backgrounds, providing an opportunity to share the joys, difficulties, and challenges experienced during the first years of missionary life.

Representing the Province of San José del Sur were Ezequiel Takaya, CMF, and Daniel Velázquez, CMF, from Argentina; Richar Vera, CMF, and Gabriel Mansito, CMF, from Paraguay; José Olguín, CMF, from Chile; and Ronel Recomono, CMF, from the Philippines.

Throughout the gathering, participants explored self-awareness, emotional intelligence, integral well-being, the prevention of pastoral burnout, spirituality, fraternity, and communal discernment. The reflections emphasized the importance of acknowledging and integrating personal vulnerabilities while nurturing spaces for interiority, rest, and accompaniment that sustain vocational fidelity.

A central conviction was the need to move from “my ministry” to “our mission,” fostering a genuinely communal and synodal approach to apostolic life.

Interculturality was another significant richness of the encounter. Living together, sharing prayer, and exchanging experiences helped participants recognize cultural diversity as a gift that strengthens communion and enriches the proclamation of the Gospel.

In their Final Message, participants expressed their shared experience through two images: the forge, symbolizing a vocation continually shaped and transformed by God’s love, and the loom, representing a fraternity woven together through different histories, cultures, and missionary commitments.

The Quinquenio Cono Sur 2026 reaffirmed that caring for the integral well-being of missionaries also means caring for the mission of the Congregation. Participants returned to their communities with renewed gratitude, hope, and commitment to journey together, discern as a community, and serve the People of God.

The encounter concluded with an invitation that captures its spirit: “Keep the Flame Alive. Journey Together. Renew the Mission.”

The Final Message of the encounter is shared as an expression of congregational communion and a renewed commitment to the common missionary mission.
