Camp Claret Receives the “Coup de Cœur des Consultants” Award of Excellence

Nov 12, 2012 | Claretians Today, USA - Canada

Victoriaville, Canadá. Camp Claret by Lake Elgin (Canada) received an Award of Excellence. The award was given to Fr. Carmel Lerma, CMF.

This award selected by secret ballot after an accreditation process conducted among 132 camps visited during the year.
Camp Claret has been singled-out as outstanding for the following reasons:

a) Excellence in Organization
Located on the shores of Lake Elgin, it offers campers access to two beaches of 900 meters in length where they are able to enjoy all kinds of activities using more than 100 kinds of equipment: sailboats, canoes, sailboards, paddle boats, kayaks, a water-ski boat, etc. and in a natural environment: a dense forest more than 1 km deep, where the campers are housed in tents while enjoying a wide array of services for the residents: restrooms, access to a fitness track which in 2010 was recognized as the most complete, with 29 different sections: a zip line, a wall of solidarity, a climbing tower, two riding schools, etc..

b) Excellence for the Experience they Offer for their Clients.
A total immersion program is offered for small campers in the great outdoors as well as teamwork skills by qualified personnel who have a ratio of one adult for every four campers. There is also a different theme each night, providing the values and favorable climate for the development of the individual. Energy, good will, character and the “3 D’s”: Determinación, dinámica y desborde [determination, dynamics and overflow], to help develop “confidence in oneself”, the importance of the “other” and the love for work and effort.

c) Excellence for their Dossier of Quality Accreditation.
During his visit, the consultants were “impressed” by the large number of folders of notes that bear witness to the preparation of their programs, training of staff at all levels, and the scrupulous observance of safety standards.
This wonderful combination draws on the experience of the two directors who have dedicated their enthusiasm and expertise for 48 and 44 years respectively, making the “Claret” a real camp where the kids are happy.

In 2011, the”Claret” hosted 1100 campers.
