France. On May 9, Europe Day, the Heart of Mary school of Gijón, represented Spain in the headquarters of the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Selected by the Office of the European Parliament in Spain from among more than 500 centres of the State, it attended the official acts of the anniversary of the Declaration, by Robert Schuman, which was the origin of what is today the European Union.

The election of our School has been the result of its implication in the matter of European programmes, the importance it gives to foreign languages, the interchange with schools of France and England and the wide display of initiatives to foster the European dimension.

The delegation consisted of 25 students, accompanied by the two Coordinators of the European Programmes of the school and by the Chief of Studies of Higher Secondary Education. Almost 700 students gathered from the 27 countries of the European Union. They performed team work, work by commissions, “eurogame”, solemn raising of the EU flag and a plenary session in the same seats of the chamber used by the euro parliamentarians.
