Claretian Sister elected Vice-President of the UISG

Roma. “For I know well the spring that flows and runs… although it is night.” This is the thought-provoking theme that gathered in Rome, from May 7 to 11, the representatives of the female religious life. More than 800 Female Religious Superiors General from all places of the planet gathered on those days to reflect together about the place of the religious life in the world and in the Church.

After the Plenary Session was finished, the new Executive Council of the Union was elected. Sister Mary Lou Wirtz (USA), of the

Franciscan Sisters, Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, will serve as President and the Claretian Missionary Sister Soledad Galerón RMI, as Vice-President.

Together with other Delegates, these Sisters will be the leaders of one of the most lively and important forces of the Church for the coming years. Behind them are almost one million Religious Sisters from all places in the planet, carrying out the mission of the church, namely: evangelization and dialogue with culture, attention to the poor, education works, social works, etc. Involved in all the realities of the world, together with them, several millions of persons are working in charismatic association with these Sisters who undoubtedly are a reflection of the most genuine Gospel.

The apostolate that these Sisters is carrying out is helping many millions of persons in the world.
