The Catalunyan Province’s pilgrimmage to Barbastro

May 11, 2011 | Claretian Family, Congregation, Martyrs of Barbastro

Barbastro, Spain. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of our Martyrs of 1936, among them those of Barbastro, the Province of Catalunya made a pilgrimmage to Barbastro in grateful memory to our brothers, teachers in fidelity until death.

Some forty Claretians coming from all of the communities of the Province participated. The encounter began in the hall of martyrs with words welcome and reason for the journey from Fr. Máxim Muñoz, Provincial of Catalunya, an from Fr. Manuel Tamargo, Provincial of Santiago.

Later there was time to visit the museum at the hands of their expert guide, Fr. José Beruete. At 1pm the eucharist was celebrated in the chapel of the martyrs. In an emotional moment, Fr. Pere Codinachs, nephew of one of the martyrs, read the letter written to the Congregation.

The encounter ended with a fraternal meal shared with Fr. Manuel Tamargo and various members of the Bartbastro community. At the end of the meal a small gift was given to those who celebrated their 50th anniversary of profession (Frs. Manuel Casal y Ramon Olomí) and ordination (Frs. Anton M. Sànchez Bosch and Francesc Pujol). Fr. Matias Augé was also able to come. (Photos)
