Morelia, Mexico. Forty-four members of the Province of Mexico gathered at the Centro Claretiano de Espiritualidad in Morelia for their XV Provincial Assembly from 10 to 14 February 2020. In fraternal dialogue, they discerned with maturity and exigency the calls of the Spirit to credibly do the Claretian mission in Mexico.
During the first day, through videoconference, Dr. Alejandro Díaz Domínguez, an investigator of Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, motivated them in the work of the day. He showed them the country’s situation, comparing several reliable surveys, according to the four traditional levels: economic, political, social, and religious.
The review of the missionary projects and plans made by the different prefectures occupied the rest of the days. But they also had the chance to reflect on Pope Francis’ encyclicals Evangelli Gaudium, Laudato Si’, Gaudete et exsultate presented respectively by Frs. Ernesto Mejía, Marcos Garnica, Enrique Mascorro, CMFF. They also took up other provincial projects like that of Hogares Claret México, Casa de Nuevo Laredo in the frontiers, and its Youth and Vocations Ministry with its projects.
They gave ample time to discuss the Provincial Economic Development Plan for Self-Financing and the reconfiguration of the Ongoing Formation for the members of the Province. They were informed that the General Plan of Formation is almost done, and the Province will soon have to adjust to it. Moreover, there was also a presentation of the Manual for Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Adults sent by the General Government together with some local research made by a commissioned group on the matter. From this will come the Protocol for the Prevention and Intervention in Cases of Sexual Abuse that the Province needs to elaborate.
During the Mass at the Purísimo Corazón de María, they recalled the memory of the Missionaries who left a mark (footprints) in the Province. They have read some portions of the history of the Province, of the lives of Fathers Domingo Solá, Félix Alejandro Zepeda and Andrés Solá, and mentioned other names of various missionaries, old and new.
On the last day, they completed the commitments of each community to the Youth Vocation Ministry. A video made by the Provincial Secretariat was shown to show them how evangelization is being done with the digital media in the Province, including Radio Claret Mexico. The body was informed of the preparations for the XXVI General Chapter which already started last January in Chile. They also discussed the commitments of the Province of Mexico to the Bible Animation Group in June and to MICLA in October. And lastly, they talked about the celebration of the 150th death anniversary of the Father Founder, the Jubilee Year which ends in October, and the commitment of each community, expressed in writing, to celebrate this Claretian event.
At the closing Mass, each Prefect read the commitments of his own Prefecture.
